Ksplice Named Best Security Software at International Software Competition
Also Awarded Special Prize for “Breadth of Vision”
Soissons, France—June 5, 2009—Ksplice’s groundbreaking new software for installing updates without rebooting won first place in the Security category at the Trophées du Libre international software competition this Friday evening.
The competition does not have an overall winner, but Ksplice was also awarded a special prize by the judges for “breadth of vision,” signifying recognition by the judges of the significance of the problems that Ksplice is solving. “We’re honored to be getting this kind of recognition from the international software community,” said Waseem Daher, Ksplice’s COO.
The Trophées du Libre, now in its fifth year, is an international software competition that seeks to promote promising software that participates productively in the free and open source software ecosystem. The competition was held this year in Soissons and Cuffies, France.
Over 125 software projects from 20 different countries were entered into the competition. Of these 125, 21 went on to be finalists in six different categories. The winners were selected by a panel of 19 expert judges based on a sophisticated rubric, paying special attention to software functionality, utility, and quality.
