Installing Ksplice Uptrack on Ubuntu Desktop 14.10 Utopic

Looking for the GUI installation instructions?

Please request an access key here, and an access key will be emailed to you. You cannot use an existing Ksplice legacy account access key to get free access to Ubuntu Desktop. If you do so, you will be charged.. Once you have an access key, you can use that access key on any number of computers that you administer.

Your system must have access to the internet to install Ksplice. If you are using a proxy, set the proxy in your shell:

export http_proxy=http://proxy.company.com:port
export https_proxy=http://proxy.company.com:port

To enable the Ksplice software repository and install Ksplice Uptrack, create /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ksplice.list with the following contents:

deb http://www.ksplice.com/apt utopic ksplice
deb-src http://www.ksplice.com/apt utopic ksplice

Then run the following commands as root:

apt-get install ca-certificates
wget -N https://www.ksplice.com/apt/ksplice-archive.asc
apt-key add ksplice-archive.asc
apt-get update
apt-get install uptrack

You will be prompted for your access key.

If you would like Uptrack to automatically install rebootless kernel updates as they become available, edit /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf and set autoinstall = yes.

When you are done with your Uptrack configuration, please run the following command as root to bring your kernel up to date:

uptrack-upgrade -y

Installing Ksplice Uptrack on Ubuntu Desktop 14.04 LTS Trusty

You will be prompted for your access key.

If you would like Uptrack to automatically install rebootless kernel updates as they become available, edit /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf and set autoinstall = yes.

When you are done with your Uptrack configuration, please run the following command as root to bring your kernel up to date:

uptrack-upgrade -y

Installing Ksplice Uptrack on Oracle Linux

First, you'll need an Oracle Linux Premier support subscription, and an access key. If you are a Premier customer and don’t have an access key, request one via ULN.

Your system must have access to the internet to install Ksplice. If you are using a proxy, set the proxy in your shell:

export http_proxy=http://proxy.company.com:port
export https_proxy=http://proxy.company.com:port

Download the Ksplice Uptrack repository installation RPM package and run the following commands as root:

rpm -i ksplice-uptrack-release.noarch.rpm
yum -y install uptrack

Edit /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf and insert your access key. Please use the same access key for all of your systems. If you would like Uptrack to automatically install rebootless kernel updates as they become available, set autoinstall = yes.

When you are done with your Uptrack configuration, please run the following command as root to bring your kernel up to date:

uptrack-upgrade -y

Installing Ksplice Uptrack on Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Your system must have access to the internet to install Ksplice. If you are using a proxy, set the proxy in your shell:

export http_proxy=http://proxy.company.com:port
export https_proxy=http://proxy.company.com:port

Download the Ksplice Uptrack repository installation RPM package and run the following commands as root:

rpm -i ksplice-uptrack-release.noarch.rpm
yum -y install uptrack or up2date uptrack

Edit /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf and insert your access key. Please use the same access key for all of your systems. If you would like Uptrack to automatically install rebootless kernel updates as they become available, set autoinstall = yes.

When you are done with your Uptrack configuration, please run the following command as root to bring your kernel up to date:

uptrack-upgrade -y

Installing Ksplice Uptrack on CentOS

Your system must have access to the internet to install Ksplice. If you are using a proxy, set the proxy in your shell:

export http_proxy=http://proxy.company.com:port
export https_proxy=http://proxy.company.com:port

Download the Ksplice Uptrack repository installation RPM package and run the following commands as root:

rpm -i ksplice-uptrack-release.noarch.rpm
yum -y install uptrack 

Edit /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf and insert your access key. Please use the same access key for all of your systems. If you would like Uptrack to automatically install rebootless kernel updates as they become available, set autoinstall = yes.

Installing Ksplice Uptrack on Debian 6.0 Squeeze

Your system must have access to the internet to install Ksplice. If you are using a proxy, set the proxy in your shell:

export https_proxy=http://proxy.company.com:port

To enable the Ksplice software repository and install Ksplice Uptrack, create /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ksplice.list with the following contents:

deb http://www.ksplice.com/apt squeeze ksplice
deb-src http://www.ksplice.com/apt squeeze ksplice

Then run the following commands as root. Please replace INSERT_ACCESS_KEY with your access key. Please use the same access key for all of your systems:

apt-get install ca-certificates
wget -N https://www.ksplice.com/apt/ksplice-archive.asc
apt-key add ksplice-archive.asc
echo 'uptrack uptrack/accesskey string INSERT_ACCESS_KEY' | debconf-set-selections
apt-get update
apt-get install uptrack

If you would like Uptrack to automatically install rebootless kernel updates as they become available, edit /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf and set autoinstall = yes.

When you are done with your Uptrack configuration, please run the following command as root to bring your kernel up to date:

uptrack-upgrade -y

Installing Ksplice Uptrack on Debian 7.0 Wheezy

Your system must have access to the internet to install Ksplice. If you are using a proxy, set the proxy in your shell:

export http_proxy=http://proxy.company.com:port
export https_proxy=http://proxy.company.com:port

To enable the Ksplice software repository and install Ksplice Uptrack, create /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ksplice.list with the following contents:

deb http://www.ksplice.com/apt wheezy ksplice
deb-src http://www.ksplice.com/apt wheezy ksplice

Then run the following commands as root. Please replace INSERT_ACCESS_KEY with your access key. Please use the same access key for all of your systems:

apt-get install ca-certificates
wget -N https://www.ksplice.com/apt/ksplice-archive.asc
apt-key add ksplice-archive.asc
echo 'uptrack uptrack/accesskey string INSERT_ACCESS_KEY' | debconf-set-selections
apt-get update
apt-get install uptrack

If you would like Uptrack to automatically install rebootless kernel updates as they become available, edit /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf and set autoinstall = yes.

When you are done with your Uptrack configuration, please run the following command as root to bring your kernel up to date:

uptrack-upgrade -y

Installing Ksplice Uptrack on CloudLinux

Your system must have access to the internet to install Ksplice. If you are using a proxy, set the proxy in your shell:

Download the Ksplice Uptrack repository installation RPM package and run the following commands as root:

rpm -i ksplice-uptrack-release.noarch.rpm

Installing Ksplice Uptrack on Parallels Virtuozzo Containers

Download the Ksplice Uptrack repository installation RPM package and run the following commands as root:

rpm -i ksplice-uptrack-release.noarch.rpm
